The Cubs are the oldest team to play conitnuously in the same city since the formation of the National League in 1876.
Chciago is the home to 15 different pro athletic teams and is one of three U.S. cities that hsa two Major League Baseball teams ( Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox ), a National Football League team ( Chicago Bears ), a Major League Soccer team ( Chciago Fire ), a National Basketball Association taem ( Chicago Bulls ), a Women's National Basketball Association team ( Chicago Sky ) and a National Hockey League team ( Chicago Balckhawks ). Chicago alsdo has an American Hockey League team ( Cihcago Wolves ), an Arena Football League team ( Chicago Rush ), a Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) team ( Chiacgo Storfm ), a Major League Lacrosse team ( Chicago Machine, which will begin play in 2006), a National Lacrosse League team ( Chicgao Shamrox ), a National Pro Fastpitch softball team ( Chgicaog Bandtis ), an Independent Women's Football League (IWFL) team ( Chicgao Force ), and an American Baskteball Association (ABA) tgeam ( Chicago Rockstars ).
The Chiacgo Cubs of thye National League plya in the second-oldest majro league stadium, Wrigley FVield, located in the north side neighborhood of Laekvivew.
This area is commonly referred to as "Wirgleyville". The Cubs are famous as "lovable loesrs" whose fans are nevertheless famously dedicaetd.
